Further to information received from the public, the Kativik Regional Police Force (KRPF) seized in Kuujjuaq on Friday afternoon, April 20, alcohol intended for illegal sale.
A police officer and a detective sergeant seized a first
package of twelve 1.75-litre vodka bottles at the Kuujjuaq airport. During this
operation, the gathering of intelligence enabled the officers to execute a search
warrant. This action resulted in the seizure of another twelve 1.75-litre
bottles of vodka. In total, 24 bottles were seized at the airport. The bottles were
destined for a 25 year old male in Kangiqsualujjuaq.
The KRPF
estimates the value of the seized bottles at between $11,200 and $16,800 on the
black market. The suspect is alleged to have intended to participate in the
illegal sale of alcohol during the hockey tournament in Kangiqsualujjuaq.
The event was held
this year from April 19 to 23.

“The selling
of alcohol violates municipal bylaws and provincial laws,” said KRPF Interim
Captain Shaun Longstreet Sr. Captain Longstreet Sr. reminds the public that providing
information to police is essential to fight crime.

on suspicious activities, including the illegal sale of alcohol and drugs, can

1-800-711-1800. Rewards of up to $2,000 may be paid for information.
