The KRPF implements cadet (poliisitsait) activities throughout the region. The long-term goal of the cadet program is to increase the number of Inuit officers working for the KRPF. The program teaches youth participants about officer responsibilities through community service, classroom lessons, as well as physical and land-based activities. Participants also share information on public safety issues with their communities.
Over the years, KRPF cadets have participated in many different projects and activities, including:
- The delivery of an anti-bullying awareness program in local schools;
- The regional distribution of free trigger locks during firearms safety awareness campaigns organized regularly with other departments of the Kativik Regional Government;
- Local initiatives, such as the annual bike rally in Kuujjuaq.
